Okay guys that know alot about motors and transmissions. This is supposed to be a pretty strong 302 with dome pistons open chamber heads and big cam. I want a c4 behind it i heard i need a stall is this true and why do i need one? What happens if you dont have one?

if it's a decent engine, you'll need a stall. otherwise it wont idle in gear and when u go to take off, it'll fall on it's face and/or die.

and semi-gloss black will look better in the engine bay. just something to think about....

you can use about any rattle can paint and make it look good. the key to a good paint job is prep. wire brush and then sand every inch of your engine bay. after the wirse brush for removing grime, i start with 80 grit, then 120, then 200. sand everything that you want to look nice. once ur done, clean with some laquer thinner, allow to dry and spray away. when youre dont painting it, you'll be glad you took the extra time to do it right ;)

as for the stall size, you're gonna need to know alot more about your engine's specs (mainly the cam specs). you need to know what rpm range your cam works best in, and what rpm range that you're gonna be doing most of your driving in.

you're also gonna need an aftermarket 50 oz 157 tooth flywheel, which will use a 10.5" bolt pattern circle for the torque converter....

Maybe this is the wrong topic to ask this but I'm just very curious. This is aimed at the topic creator but why does it seem like nowadays all your topics have some warning of "if you have nothing nice to say don't say anything" or something close to that?

I occasionally pass by here when I have a problem and never really pay mind on what the hot topic is but this one just caught my attention cause like I said, I noticed some of your threads have something like that added at the end.

Because i dont always get along with everybody on the board and i dont want my project thread turning into a thread about mine and somebodies problems or etc.

that counds like your best bet, just make sure he was running a 157 tooth bellhousing/flywheel..... or if he was running that trans/stall with your engine then try to get the flywheel too that way u know everything works together :yup:

Gonna attempt all the engine bay finishing up this weekend. Can the cowl repair be done in a weekend?

How bad is it? if your going to weld it up, and do it properly, it's going to take some time.
