I have a 70' maverick with manual steering and need to replace my center link or rebuild it if possible. The cheapest I found was at PST for $188.00 and would rebuild my old one, if I knew if anyone sells the rebuild kit. My next question is that I need to get some sub-frame connectors and can not find any for sell? Thanks for any infor
Sub frame connectors can be made with a hack-saw and welder if you can work them and take some basic measurements under the car. I built mine (for my Muskrat) for $45 worth of steel and some time.
isnt the center link basicly a bar with holes in it? it may have a ball joint on the end that goes to the pitman arm, but i cant rember. i dont think you should need to rebuild or replace it.
Dan Starnes had fabbed some sub-frame connectors to sell. Do a search here for his name/username. He is club secretary for the Maverick Comet Club International(MCCI).
Rudy Bidlack makes and sells them.....someone here can tell you his screen name but he advertised in the back of shorthorns. Robert
Found frame connectors I did find a place that sells subframe connectors for $99.00, which I already place an order from Chassis engineering. Still looking for a cheap center link or a way to rebuild the old one. Thanks Robert
Yes, my stud on the center link is wore out, I like what you said about it being just a regular ball joint, so maybe I can just press out the joint and then I need to know what ball joint will fit in place of the old one? I see some companys will take your old center link as a core and rebuild to resell for over $200.00, thats just too much. So, that means they can be rebuilt. Any ideas what ball joint to use? Thanks Robert
I might have it figured out!! I'am here looking over my new front end parts and notice that the outer and inner tie rods have that same type of ball joint pressed on them, the outer joint is too small. but the inner tie rod looks the same as the drag link joint. I will press out the old ones and compare them, if they are the same I will just buy an extra inner tie rod and have the joint pressed out and put on my drag link. Hope for the best and maybe save alot of money.
Advance Auto Parts also offers the same parts from Rare Parts, but when I did mine two years ago, there prices were double Autozone's. Might want to check em out though just in case things changed.
