Looking for some input, which looks better, bottom of hood painted body color or satin black to match engine bay? No wrong answer, just your thoughts on the matter
I like body color too. Since you brought it up, body color was stock same as the engine bay too; right? Someone was telling me that the engine bays were blk and bolt heads not painted????
Some cars had a black engine bay from the factory. Mine has been sprayed black already, so it will stay that way.
I like the body color under the hood and firewall but Satin Black on the inner fenders and radiator support. Maybe because that is the way my F100 has always been. How is my old Maverick doing? I got me a 72 now. A true school teacher's car with 70k miles on it. Too bad it doesn't look like it lol clint
What I usually do is paint the edges & braces body color with the spaces between the braces semi gloss or satin black. I also paint the firewall & integrated fender wells like on the Mavericks & Comets body color. If the fender wells are removable, then they go black with everything else going body color. -Scott H.
Clint, stick around a while......in a few days, it will be changing color! It looks like this right now http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=59079&highlight=golden , hope to finish the bodywork and sanding this weekend and maybe paint it next weekend. I like that idea! I might just have to copy that!
Give it a try! You'll be surprised how much the black areas make the rest of the paint pop! If nothing else, give it a try with two different colors of primer. That way if you don't like the look, it'll be easy enough to change. If you have a scrap hood laying around you could also give it a try with a couple of cheap spray bombs. -Scott H.
