I've searched the forums and found lots of people using splatter/spatter paint for their trunks that is similar to what was there originally, but has anyone found a source for the original looking stuff? Maybe it's shared with the Stangs of similar vintage. Attached is a picture of what I am trying to match.
Looks like it might be the grey/white specks like a 71-73 Stang? http://mustanginfo.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=EP2604+01
I used some from National Parts Depot, that they had list for 71-73, it's alot darker than the factory, but it looks good. I'll see if I can take some pic's later today...
I have used the grey/white specks stuff. You should be able to buy it locally as well. It is not identical to the factory finish....but it is as close as you will get. Recommendation: Use grey primer on your trunk first, then ths stuff. This stuff doesn't want to cover paint very well. I believe they recommend a clear top coat as well.
Cool. Thanks for the tips. I saw this listed for 70 Fords, but it doesn't look right either (5th one down): http://www.tcpglobal.com/autobodydepot/trunkfinish.aspx I'll probably just look for a similar one here locally.
