i am going to do the same taurus Fan swap after i do the 3g alternator swap make a sticky you should add it to the taurus fan sticky ??
wait till it tests out for a few months first, how many controllers you been through on that thing now? cant say im doing much better with the one on my truck.... hope this one is the winner.

are you useing a relay or do you have the fan hooked directly to the controlers? if you not useing a relay then you will keep burning up controlers. fords factory fans have an amparage spike when they first turn on of 40 to 60 amps. the realys or transistors in the controlers wont be rated higher than 30 amps on the best of them. the fan will burn the controlers pretty fast. put a 60 amp or higher realy in to controle the fan. or use two 30 amp relays wired in parellel.
I spoke to Flex-a-lite about the controller some time ago. They told me that the internal wireling itself couldnt handle the load required for the fan. Using an external relay would be the same as utilizing a cheaper fan thermo switch with external relay. Dakota Digital now sells a controller with a built in 70 amp relay I want to try. Bryant Both of the controllers I have used are soft start controllers and a relay were not required . The soft start controller starts from 10 pct. to 60 pct. fan speed and as temp. goes up the fan speed will go up to 100 pct. As per all of the driving inst. in the kits NO relay were needed . But maybe a relay may not be a bad idea .. Jay The soft start does away with most of the high amparage spikes
Jay, i did not about the soft start thing. my guess would be then that the ford fan still has too much of an amperage draw for those controlers. for the cost of those controlers you could use two of those cheapy ones that have the borbonic tube and a knob to adjust temp, 4 relays to use the two speeds that the fan has. i suspect that you have allready ordered the new controller so lets see how it works out for you.

Since I already have a 70 amp relay with my current setup, the additional one that comes with the kit will be used to run the second speed. The primary advantage I see in this system is packaging. 1 controller 1 temp sensor (existing gauge) 2 relays The alternative up to 4 relays up to 2 controllers 2 temp sensors (in addition to gauge)
i am going to do the 3g alt swap tomorrow and i just bought the fan controller and was wondering what other relay's i can use and there #'s to tell them when i'm at the store so they can find them //// because they could not find one because they don't say the amp's ??????
