Well my wife finally came for a ride in the Mav. Took her out on the back roads dropped it into first at about 10 mph and put it to the boards. It ripped the tires loose then just hung on the edge of traction till second gear then it broke loose again and took off. The look on her face said it all. Shock and a smile followed by "um its just a little fast". "I'd like to see how fast it goes if you stay on the gas longer" she says. Dont think she realized that those few seconds put us up to 75 mph. I said I cant hold it down that long we were at 75 already. We need to take it to the track to go faster. I think she was actually impressed. Pulled into a parking lot and gave her the Mav driving lesson. Showed her how the ratchet shifter worked. The brakes dont stop like her 300 and be very careful with the gas pedal. It was strange sitting in the passenger seat and yep I was a bit nervous hoping she wouldnt get brave and put the pedal down. Its a bit of work to hang on to it with the 4:11's and street tires.:) She did eventually get on it a bit about half throttle I would guess. It runs up to 60 mph pretty fast so I had to keep reminding her of the speed limit. 60 mph in a 60 kph zone is a very bad thing. :naughty: She liked how it drove and said its really comfy for an old car but the head lights suck and the dash lights are too dim. That was her only complaint though so I think I did good.(y) She has factory HID in the 300 so the sealed beam halogens just dont cut it I guess. I think she'll take more interest in it next year now. She really liked that acceleration thing.

I agree with the 2nd car thing. It's useless to try and "lock the gate" once she has had a taste of the open road w/4:11's and the way THAT motor sounds. You've really done it now....

I agree with you all take a dent report, you cant lock it up, and you'll need a 2nd car.

lol. i did pretty much the same with my wife. she didnt want me to go drag racing or any thing. so i took her for a ride. i came to a stop and didnt tell her i was going to floor it. she was asking whats wrong then i hit it. she kinda freaked out and when i lifted shes all dont ever do that again with out telling me....... then says do it again. she loved the feel of it. she realized right there that the car was built for drag racing. so i took her to the track and she got to ride with me and loved it. shes scared to drive it for several reasons but wants her own car so she can race me.

:rofl2:Yeah,I finally let my girlfriend drive my Maverick and she ended up liking it, she said it reminded her of being back in High school and driving her brothers 65 Mustang. Now given the chance to drive it she doesn’t hesitate which could be a big mistake & Ditto on the dents.

My mom got pulled over for laying drag in my dad's Comet when she was 7 months pregnant with me. With my 18 month old brother strapped into a child seat in the passenger seat, none the less. She said the look on the cops face when she rolled down the window was priceless. :rofl2: She said it was almost impossible to take off from a light without it chirping the tires. He let her off with a warning.

My wife drove my 74 Grabber once, and only once. She doesn't care for 30+ year old cars, she likes her suv.

II hate the breaks on new cars i barely touch them and i almost go through the windsheild. I like to slam the breaks.
