This is what happens when you've got extra cans of paint left over from the original project, too much time on your hands and going "stir crazy" because it's been raining for two weeks. The trunk was original before I took this on------ugly, greasy gray vinyl mat and dirty white interior walls. After removing about 1/8" of crud from down in the wells (no rust!) and cleaning it good with laquer thinner I got out the "nutmeg" aerosol spray bomb from Rustoleum and plastered the inside all the way around. The mat was cleaned and sprayed with some black plasti-cote. I kind of like the splattered effect so I used some of the same colored nutmeg that came in an enamel from Rustoleum as well. Took a 2" paint brush and went to work with the Jackson Pollock technique (paint goes everywhere), and no------the mat was not in the trunk. The wheel cover was a piece of 1/4" lexan I had laying around that I cut into an 18" circle. Did the same painting process with it. Found a Maverick logo on the internet and played around with it on my PhotoShop until I got what I wanted. Simply printed it out on regular paper, polyeurethaned the bejeebers out of it then glued it to my homemade wheel cover. (Some basic tools, extra oil, rags and manuals are hidden under there) And yes, the jack as well. While this color isn't "typical" for most cars, I wanted it to tie in with the overall paint scheme of my car which has the original tan LDO interior. ------------------------- Doodley squat was on TV so I added one more thing this evening. Recognize an old gas cap in there now? I ground down the back of one and tack welded a nut to the inside.
Thanks for the thumbs up--------it better quit raining here in Arkansas or no telling what will happen next.
