You could always go green but that would look funny with white... i like my frankenstine, green engine, black engine bay, blue car and red glasspacks.
'Fraid not. There's a "Ford red", used on old 8N tractor drivelines, '50s Y-blocks, and early '60s 260s/ Falcon 144/170 sixes. Red wouldn't be "correct" for a Mav, but would still look pretty good. Just don't do the chevy orange thing. If you got a little chrome/aluminum to throw at it, black engines look good to me. I like minimal colors(usually no more than 3) in the engine bay, makes it look cleaner. Can't go wrong with Ford blue though, it's predictable, correct and probably won't offend anyone.
I ain't chainging now. If I ever need to pull the motor then I MIGHT consider a different color. Make up your mind and just do it.
Nothing if you like to clean all the time! I bet it would be hard to keep a white engine bay clean. Gene, if you would sand the ribs on those valve covers and then polish them, that would be sharp! Needs just a bit more shiny, IMO To get back to the original question, white shows the least flaws, black the most. White is usually the cheapest color to buy, too. Why do you think so many commercial trucks are white? It's cheaper, doesn't show damage as bad, doesn't look dirty until it gets really filthy, and can easily be resprayed over, making a good base coat. I would go with a black engine bay, a semi gloss so it's not too shiny if I painted the car white. If you don't want a Ford blue engine, then I would paint it black, too, with some chrome or aluminum stuff on top to make it stand out. These are just my thoughts, do what makes you happy, it's you car.
Havent washed/cleaned it since june. Eng comp is still squeaky clean, been driven in a downpour or two also this summer.
Me too, I drove my White 74 Grabber for years, without really having to worry about the white engine compartment, it stayed pretty clean, and I drove it everywhere.
