i have a 74 comet that was a six cyl. now it has a 5.0 in it and i took off the huge heavy bumpers and put small bumpers on it. i am needing to find out the best way to lower it car about 2 or 2 1/2 in. so it doesn't look like a 4x4. thanks
several options. research the shelby drop or a coil chop. I had several extra coils laying around and I cut 3/4 on one set and 1 whole coil and a 1/2 coil on another i stuffed the 3/4 in first and was satisfied.
I cut a 1/3rd of a coil, off the front coils, and had the rear springs de-arched on my green Grabber. It sits pretty low, maybe a little too low.
I'm using '85 Mustang GT springs up front with quite a bit cut off, maybe 1.5 coils, and E150 springs in the back with 2" lowering blocks. Sits low, rides firm, corners great...
I picked up some 65-66 Mustang 1" lowering springs from someone I knew. Then I used the 1" spacers on the top - which I would assume would make it the same as the standard spring. If I had bought these new, I probably would have tried the standard spring (still in a 620 lb). Here's a recent picture. The '73 on the left has the Mustang springs. The '71 on the right is all stock.
Because I didn't want it any lower than how it is in the picture and I knew if I didn't use it, it would be too low. I knew this because I test fit the springs before ordering the spacer. If I had the standard height 65-66 springs, I wouldn't have used the 1" spacer.
Ok,i just make'n sure it wasn't needed to make em fit lol, sweet now those are added to my wish list....
