Thanks Ray... one thing tho, if I had a "Maverick" I would probobly just use a hand full of "FEs". . . . I love this place sometimes ...
ok, i had to dig up this old thread as gene didn't get any of the fasteners mentioned above. does anybody know a source for them, or a corresponding mustang part which will work?
I been saving this thread so that I could refrence back to it and now the PDF is gone. I shoulda got some or at least printed the pic.
I dont know what the PDF is about, but I did find this, has all sorts of clips along with the part number of each clip http://www.paintguys.com/Catalogs/W&E/2005-2006CATALOG.pdf also found this: http://shop.northlandfasteners.com/...314CF4E68FE015B32C86B8CC3AFD9409.qscstrfrnt01 Not sure if either of those will help, just did a quick search, didnt look too deeply into them
I looked and cant find any...maybe one of these guys on here has a set of them off right now. If you want that PDF file I can see if I can find it...just tell me what it had in it.
Its a broken link, thats what you were referring to in your newer post when you said you wish you had saved it right? Was it a PDF of nothing but comet/maverick clips?
Gene, try this site, they have all kinds of fasteners: http://www.clipsandfasteners.com/Ford_Clips_And_Fasteners_s/63.htm
I only remember that it was a good source for clips. Thanks Bobby. I saved it. Now I just need to see what one looks like. Sometimes the end ones are different and that's what I am also wondering.
If I remember correctly the trim is clipped on with these in the middle section of the trim although the year seems to be D8 so it might be a later size. http://www.clipsandfasteners.com/Ford_Moulding_Clip_p/a14137.htm The end points of the trim use threaded studs on clips that go through holes near the rear wheel well and front fender with nuts that thread on from inside the wheel well. Here is the style but not sure it if it's the correct one: http://www.clipsandfasteners.com/Universal_Moulding_Fastener_10_24_X_3_4_Bolt_p/a19627.htm My '71 featured holes through the rocker that the clips mounted to whereas my '76 had nail head studs that the clips mounted to. Depending on how you want to mount them (if you don't have the studs) you could use the holes if you have them or rivet the clips if you don't. If I can remember what tin mine are in I can dig them out to verify size vs the catalog.
trim clips Here you go, original clips, end clip still in the trim, clips 'pop' into the trim and mount on the studs on the rockers if so equipped... the back of the screw clip isn't too clear but you can see the tension arm piece that keeps the clip nestled in the trim groove and the flat piece is just thin steel with the stud mounted to it...the nut is on the threads but it all looks a little dark in the photo...best I have.
Ok. I remember seeing a rag with someof those in it. I will have to see if I can find it to get the measurements. They seem pricey, but I would trust new verses the rusty ones. Thanks.
