In light of Seans reply, I wanted to paint before actualy doing all this. Can I just put the seal on the front glass and lay it in the hole just to get it off of the floor?

Gene, you could probably do that if you wanted but you would be hiding a good bit of the lip and prevent it from getting completely painted. If you're going to do something like that you need to at least go ahead and spray the windshield jamb area before you lay the windshield in place. It might be easier to run you a couple of passes of masking tape around the opening after you spray it just to pad the metal a bit, set the windshield in place, then run a couple more passes of tape around the complete windshield sealing it down. It would lay flatter that way making it easier to mask up and not take any chances of getting paint overspray on your new seal. As long as you are careful when laying your windshield down you're not going to hurt a thing. Just center it in the hole good and tape it down. Get that baby painted!!! (y)

Painting is not real soon. I am sanding tho lol. I just need to get it off of the guest room floor. The inlaws are coming for Thanksgiving and the father inlaw said he's not gonna be responsible :16suspect. I dread moving it, but it is in the way in there. I figure in the hole maybe it will be safe. I did already sand the opening and about 3" out. The back glass is out, should I do the same back there? :scratchchin:

Yes, set them in place. Definitely much safer there than on the floor.
