 I have a question, what is the ratio (roughly) of Canadian made to American made Mavericks and Comets. I'm curios because my bud Larry Winter asked me where my Comet was made? I assumed it was made in the states- which it was. I also assumed his Maverick was made in the states also, but it is made in Canada while his other 3 Comets were made in the states also. Were all the Comets made in America and some Mavericks made in Canada as well as America? Anyone know the ratio?:yup:

I think the more important question to ask is "how many Canadian vs American-made Mavs and Comets survive today?"

Wherever there was road salt and winter usage ... I'd say "not many" ...:bouncy:

Saw a like-new red 4 door big bumper Mav driving the other direction out in traffic yesterday ... I love living in Florida .... :D

Look at that ... threadjacked with the first reply ... You're Welcome!

Seriously, though, so many more more Mavs vs. Comets ... you might be onto something. Comets might have only been made in a few plants and Mavs in more. Mine was made in Kansas City.

I own 4 Canadian built Mavericks right now IIRC. The rest are Kansas City except my '74 Grabber, which is a Wayne, Michigan car.

No Comets were made in Canada.
Most of the production from St.Thomas, (where Mavericks were built) was always for the American market, usually 80%.

Mercury did have a definitely big presence here, but one thing that surprised me was that Mercury dealers in Canada carried trucks ... not so here in the states.

Out of all the Mavs I have brought home all of them have been KC cars, I buy one out of Texas and it ends up being a Canadian built car. Go figure.

I dont think many Canadian built cars made their way to the west coast

My 69.5 was built in St. Thomas.

Both the 999 report from Ford and the Marti Report have a built date in October of 1969, very very late for a 69.5

I've seen a little later then before, it was a real bona fide '69.5 by every other indication, but had the sticker in the door jam instead of the tag on the door!
