back from canada! today was a good day for the car. i picked up some parts from across the globe - thanks again to mean_maverick and rwbrooks50! it barely fit in my daily driver. i figured that's why most of you have pick up trucks!
while i was away, quite a lot was done to the car. the quarter panel is in and the battery tray was repaired:
I wish that work would get done to my Comet while I am away ... it would be "done" by now ... Sounds like a nice trip!
cowl vent repair started... i got two cowls from mean_maverick, one of which was perfect, the other one did require some rust repairs. but as mine (first picture) were totally rotted out, anything was better than that. the three pieces of the lower panel are still waiting for their final assembly.
just checked with the garage - cowls are halfway done. but i mainly was there to have a look at the newly acquired seats. mustang mach 1 seats, which i got for free in exchange for the recaro sport seats which were in the car. i just ordered new seat foams and a complete upholstery set, standard in black. now i just need to find a way to fully disassemble the seat tracks. any hints on that one?
They look like 1973 Mustang Mach 1 seats. Exactly the same seats that I put in a Plymouth Duster many years ago. I bought a set of ginger 72 Mustang Grande seats for my Maverick. They were so ugly that no one wanted them. I stripped off the old seat covers and bought new black covers from California Mustang. They will look like new when I'm done.
I was looking at taking a set of LDO tracks apart ... IIRC there was a dimple punched into the track that stops the other piece from sliding past it. Flatten that out, and it ought to come apart if yours are the same.
