JUNK Well thanks to this silicon, i have to replace.... Intake gasket timing cover gasket oil pan gasket waterpump gasket and a new gasket for the thermostat (did not use rtv because old guy at napa said no) Im really pissedyup: Hope to use the clear silicon (expensive stuff), i guess you do get what you pay for!!!
that SUUUCCKKKSSS!!! Dude that is way uncool. I was about to use some of that goop too! I was using it to help seal the new paper gaskets though.
You really shouldnt need to use RTV on all that stuff.Dont use the clear stuff either...Its for fish tanks...Are you having leakage issues??? I assume so...Get the one piece rubber/neoprene oil pan gasket from Ford, its virtually fool proof. As for the intake gaskets...you really only need it on the ends(front/back of block)T-stats,I use enough to stick the gasket to the housing/intake...Just a thin film. Front cover, only around coolant passages. Water pump, once again...Thin film of it on gasket to glue it in place.Use the permatex Grey or black.I have never had good luck with the red stuff in any application...Dont gorilla the fasteners either, overtorqueing em pushes the gaskets out/deforms em and then they leak for certain.Good luck on your redo man...I feel for ya.
