Hey guys I need your help, I bought a Grabber type grill with the sport lamps off ebay. The guy I bought it from threw in extra lenses, extra trim pieces that go around the lights, extra lamp buckets etc. The one thing I don't have is the grill mounting brackets. I have'nt compared them yet, but he said they mount differently than the type I have. So I was wondering are the brackets hard to find or is there another solution to mount the grill? Thanks. Bossed
The grille itself will mount the same as any other. On the top there should be four holes (2 towards the center and 1 on each end) where you would install screws. On the bottom should be a plastic dowel on each end (moulded as part of the grille if they haven't already broken off) that will stick down through holes in the stone guard. As for the lights, there is a bracket about 5 inches long that attaches between the back of the light and the radiator support. Since '73 and up cars had the turn signals in the grille, you should be able to find these brackets easily enough since they are interchangable with your grabber lights. You could leave them off temporarily but they do provide extra support for the heavier lamp assembly. Hope this helps.
my 71 has the grill and smooth lights like a 77 4 door. but it has all the brackets and everything like its factory. i doubt it is. i hate the grill though. changing it out tomorrow actually since i found one
look at the light tan 4 door. its not my car but thats the grill in my 71 http://www.fordmaverick.com/minimeets/IN2002/INmeet2002.htm
That is the later style of grill hardware. If you have a 1970 Maverick and you are trying to mount a 1971-1972 Grabber grill, you need the metal triangle shaped grill mounts. I have those. Email me directly (see below) if I can help.
