just got a 73 maverick with a 302 automatic has 120k miles and am the 2nd owner. looking to do a 5speed swap just curious as to what tranny i will need and other parts that will work, i know i need a clutch pedal, cable, clutch flywheel, not sure on all of the parts that i will need. is there a website i can buy a tranny mount as im sure this one will not work. if anyone is in sac maybe we can get together and maybe ill shoot you some money to help me do this once i get all the parts?

p.s im trying to keep this project budget kinda low so i can do some engine mods and suspension

There's a member that is making cross members to swap t5 trannys in to our cars. Try searching for t5 swap on this site, there are lots of threads that have good info in them. Welcome to the friendliest site on the web

Not really the kind of mod you can do on the cheap. I would say you would be looking at at least $500 and more for this mod.

i agree. a good tranny and bell will run $500 just by itself. then factor in clutch pedals, clutch, flywheel, cable (or hydro parts), etc...

needless to say it turns into $$$ really quick

When buying a T5 you have to be sure it is for a V8 and not some whimpy little 4 cylinder - all T5s are not alike!
