Sprint Project Picked this up from a friend. He was second owner -- bought it from his in-laws. Sat in his yard since 1989. I've been working on it since 10/08. Looked better after a little cleaning.
It looked a LOT better with some cleaning. Did you find that dark stuff all over the body was some kind of moss or vegetation growing there? That is exactly what mine looked like sitting outside for so many years.
Just mold and mildew, I think, encouraged by the sap from the trees above. The problems were the rust, encouraged by the damp dirt below. Am working on the last (I hope) of the rust repairs -- a half dozen pin holes in the lower fender areas. The fenders are the LAST TWO parts to be preped for the final color coats. I'm ready to weld them up but can't get motivated today. Too cold I guess.
Here's mine sitting in Clint's yard, and loaded up on the trailer to come home with, and one after I unloaded it. If Jamie hadn't been short on cash, He would have probably have it now. That's me on the left, Clint Deal on the right. I already had the Grabber hood, was the first thing I put on when I got it unloaded.
I wish I had the talents and could take credit for the transformation, but work was done by a guy I work with.
Jamie Miles, I love that fairlane bodystyle in front of your mav in that one pic. I had one that style that I put the Gt decklid and quater extensions and tail light package, Painted it red with blue and purple, molded off the door handles. It was sweet. The mav looks good too!
Good solid original paint car but loaded with touch ups and dents. Hail damage on top side. No rust on any panels. Stripped bare and eleven months at work in our body shop then It came out like this. I laughed when they told me it would take us a year. Boy was I wrong!!!!
Here's my gem Getting loaded up, then after sitting for 22 years, she gets a bath. She cleans up well. Bossed
