Steering Column Sleeve?

    Say, I need to touch up the, not sure if this is the correct term, steering column sleeve--the plastic wrap around, hook into the column under the steering wheel "thingy." Anyway, it is faded and has some key scratches I'd like to tidy up.
    Hence the question, "how does one remove the darn thing with out breaking it?" :hmmm:

    Pry the bottom of the collar off...where it is split. Gently pry off one side....then the other......and it should be flexible enough to come right off.

    It seems as though the split has an edge that is deep into the column -- and being a 72, well Im afraid it will be too brittle and break. Guess I will wait until it warms up before I go trying it unless there is another way. Thanks for the pointer! :)

    I have never had any of them break. If it does break....I have a bunch of them saved.

    Thanks, like I said I think I'll wait for it to warm up before I try it--its been below zero lately and the garage doesn't warm up that much. Thanks again! (y)

    You can always warm it up with a hair dryer. :)
