    Good question Earl! (y)

    Something that seems to be a small trend lately is gloss black paint with semi-gloss stripes. Looks pretty sharp. Easy to do with just clear coat and a flattening agent.

    Hey! I was just out in the garage and made a "black goo" discovery ...

    Fast Orange Hand Cleaner will dissolve it. :thumbs2:

    Gojo wouldn't touch it.

    Dish soap and a scrub brush didn't do much either.

    Fast Orange did not seem to harm the plastic panels either. I have some nice rear trim panels that I am repainting, and the black goo was on them where they contact the rear window gasket. Not any more!

    If the plastic was flaky and deteriorating, I get the feeling Fast Orange would help them peel, but it was OK to use on ones in nice shape.

    Uh-oh ...

    Cowls pans not so solid?

    I've seen Chip's work in person on some of the CAMEO cars ... it looks good. A smoothed cowl looks different if you are used to looking at our cars, but you get used to it fast.

    When it came to my floorpans, I started poking with a screwdriver, then moved up to a large scratchawl, and found more trouble. Ultimately, when welding in some patches, I found that hammering on a questionable area is really what will tell you if it is good or not. Some areas that survived being poked at, failed when being hammered on.

    I'm not really one for the filled cowl look, and I looked at his site, but I'd like to do a more permanent fix, Like Dennis did. So yesterday, I started drilling. It's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I only spent maybe 2 hours on and off during the day, and should have it completely done today.

    37 years of leaves, pine needles, and whatever else made it's way in there....
    It's no real wonder they rust so bad, it looks like they used some sorta seam sealer right over the bare metal....This is a Arkansas car...

    I knew it had some rust when I bought it, but it was too good of a deal to pass up.

    ouch, this doesn't look to good. are there pinholes even in the middle section? hope you'll find a decent donor car!
