New distributor installation

I am about to install a new distributor on my 302 50H0 w/external coil, never done this before, and was wondering if anyone could detail the steps in doing it.

 

is the old distrubtor still in the motor?

 

Yes, it's still on.

 

what distrbutor is in the motor and what one are you replcacing it with?

I'm thinking about just replacing the electronics and not the whole distributor. Considering the Pertronix I or II.
I have a Blaster 3 coil & Ford 9mm wires, Any potential problems with this setup?
