Head Liner Installation ???

    Has anyone put in a headliner in a maverick? Im woundering how hard it is. I have a cage in my Maverick . And the interior shops here dont want to do it because of the cage. I dont want to haul my car out of town to get it done:drive:

    Putting in the stock headliner with the bows is practically impossible with the cage in the car.

    You'll probably have to get a custom headliner done, either glued to the roof, or on a custom made board.

    If someone tells you they can put the stock headliner back in, I wouldn't hold out much hope of it actually working out.

    I've put quite a few headliners in and I don't think I would tackle one with a cage either. That would be a pain in the azz. :(

    Its not an easy task infact I did mine with the windows, quarter windows, and seats out of the car and still was not an easy task. It still took me 2 days to complete the task.

    Can you remove the rollbar?

    Headliner

    The roolcage aint in yet. But i have to take the headliner to weld it in What to do What to do?

    Can you weld it before standing it up or weld it before sticking all the way in the car?

    It ain't my cage...The headliner has never been removed. The owner told me the main hoop was placed inside the car with the end of the hoop hanging outside the car and the welding/painting was done on that side. The bar was push out the other door and it was welded. After the paint dried the cage was pushed back inside the car and welded to the frame.

    I did mine, I didn't think it was any big deal. Just take your time. I'm going to do the one in my other car soon.

    Any feedback on AutoKrafters headliner? Not sure if I should order that one and have it installed, or just let an interior shop make and install their own.

    The AK headliners are great so I guess it just depends on the price the int shop gives you if they make one.

    my take on this....if a shop that does this everyday (and gets paid) doesn't want to touch it...i ain't messing with it (for free)...as they say..."you get what you pay for"...:tiphat:

    I'd leave it in and use sheets of masonite and welding leathers to protect the head liner. If you use MIG pay the extra and use 100% argon gas at a slightly higher presure to reduce the splatter or better yet use a TIG
