sounds like a bargain to me...lol i've got a 66 mustang too, and it's funny, because stuff like this is in every magazine for purchase..not the case with the mavs
I had a rear bumper from Bumper Boys, chrome started flaking off after about 6 weeks. They never applied copper to the base metal, just put the nickel and chrome right over the rust! They told me I needed to pay for shipping to Cali (from PA) to get it fixed. I used it as a core to get a good bumper from Keystone. They have a place in NJ that used to make the original bumpers for Ford, lifetime guarantee for $265.

My front bumper is original to the car ... had it chromed at Dallas Plating in GA. Back bumper I bought from Bumper Boyz since I didn't have a good core. Bumper Boyz never peeled on me but did lose it's luster .... I then had the back redone at Dallas Plating too ...
This is who I used to do mine: http://www.custom-chrome.com/ 100% perfect, chromed on the inside..but it did cost $1800.......But well worth it, with what I did to the rest of the car, I couldn't cheap out on the bumpers.
I really don't have much of a choice around here, the only local shop that will do bumpers, is awful! The shop that does all the chrome for the bikers, doesn't have tanks big enough, or I'd have them do them, they do awesome work (they use to do my Harley stuff, always top notch) But when you figure, chrome bumpers are such a big part of 70's cars, they have to look good.
Dave, I'm curious. Can't you just send them to Tri-City in the States? If the problem is import duty, isn't there someway around the duty for return of your own property that gets sent out for repairs? (in this case - chrome repair)
If you send parts to the USA, there is some paperwork that has to be filled out, then on the way back into the country, you need a customs broker (which charges) and you have to pay taxes on the cost of the repair, plus shipping...then deal with the possibility of damage, or them disappearing...then if you have any warranty issues, and have to send them back, you go through it all again. I hope Frank can get something worked out, I'll drop off 2 sets of bumpers on my way to Florida next month
