My 73 has the scoop and the sport mirrors. I will be painting the rear panel black and getting the stripes soon...sooo...what else is there? Besides the VIN that is.
this is true. GT's never had their own vin code, or even a door tag code. so one could clone any comet from 71-75 to a GT and technically no one could prove u wrong
I just REALLY like the way they are put together. My dash is already black and I already have buckets. My door panels are whatever package they were and missing the armrests unfortunately.I cant stand the vinyl pattern on my backseat either. It's sort of a lacy embossed stripe. I don't really want to clone a GT perse, I just want the look with my own touches. I think it's a well thought out and tasteful look. I prefer the 72 stripes also.
A Marti Report is the only way to tell for sure that a Comet is a GT or not. Just don't try and pass your car off as a GT or try to sell it as one. You might get some legal problems for misrepresentation. It is your car. Make it into whatever you choose. Go for it!! GT's RULE!!! Jim
It also has no grille. Black or otherwise. Only wire shelving and mesh LOL. I do have a broken GT grille but...it's missing a couple of vanes.
Other than what the others mentioned A true 72 GT will not have drip rail moulding and no rocker panel chrome, no comet script on the front fenders. It will have deluxe door panels.
My Comet script is on the rear sail panels. I do have the grandma trim going down the bodyline which I HATE to death.
