I figured i needed to start a thread on the build of my 70 maverick that i just got a few weeks ago from a guy that Paintank knew (thanks Paint). the car was orignally a 200 ci car but someone but a 250 in it with a colum shift c4. the only rust i have found so far on the car is on the driverside floor board and in the fuel tank. (tank has ALOT of pin holes) also has some damage to the left rear quarter which looks pretty easy tp fix, as well as a dent in the roof on the passanger side. This is what it looked like tha day i brought it home.
Here is a few pics of it after i gave it a good scrub and stole the disc brakes of my 72 grabber ( sorry mean maverick) and the new rims and tires that are going on it. excuse the mud my back yard is a swamp right now.
Dont drive it too far without the lugnuts Isnt it amazing how much better a car looks with nice wheels on it. Looks to be a great star
The rear are just on there to test fit them, as you can see the tire hits the spring. And thank you, and you are very right the right rims and tires changes everything about a car.
WOW - that's a twin to my 69.5 when I drove it home back in 1989 . Is it gold interior also? How bout the key switch? Under the dash or in the column?
Tony, nice looking carWhat is the game plan for it?As asked earlier,is it the early 70 with the key on the dash?Have fun and enjoy!
It is in the column, And the interior is black. The plan is to get the tank fixed and drive the mess out of it...lol.
Tony, thats a sharp looking ride, amazing what a good bath does for em. Great to see another Mav saved Bossed
Here are some pics of me putting in the new wheel studs today. And yes I really want to drive it that bad........
That car looks great all cleaned up! I'm wearing the chain I found in it. 14k! I'm very happy that car has a good home. It didn't look too awful under the green moss and mildew. I didn't think it was rusted too bad, just some floor rot and the tank I figured not a big deal and well worth the money. I wouldn't steer anyone toward a junker for too much! When are you coming back T? I have another place I need to show you.
After the snow melts...lol. Me and my Son are going to head that way next weekend. For the all Ford show at the fair grounds in Relaigh, we should meet up there.
If I didn't have to drive to Charlotte for the gunshow I would! I get to spend 2 hours driving my Comet...awesome. Then I get to deal with city traffic in it...not awesome. Then 2 hours home.
Well at least you get to drive it, but I did just drive mine around the block. And here are some pics of the 15X10 installed with a 1/2" wheel spacer and new 2" wheel studs.
