metal thickness

    what gauge metal should i use for body panel patches (cowl top vents, fenders, doors rear quarters) . i have a 16 gauge panel and it looks really
    close. or is it 18 gauge?..

    cool cool thanks where can you order like be sheets of it? like 4x4 sheets or something around that?

    I have a fabrication company about a mile from me that I used a lot when I was building oval track cars. I'm lucky that they will sell metal to a customer off the street and I'm fortunate that they are this close to me.

    They'll shear a piece of 20 gauge for me in what ever size I tell them. I always make it about 6 inches larger than what I actually need.

    It saves me space in having to store full sheets all of the time. :)
