There are many good adhesives on the market today that will hold emblems in place just fine. If you want it factory correct drill holes but...Holes allow a place for water to get behind a panel and promote rust. Plus, once you drill a hole, you now have bare steel with no protection (another place for rust to take hold)

I am personally leaning towards adhesive. I don't much care about making the car factory correct...and I would like to have the option to reposition the emblems if/when the car gets a repaint.

Where can the inserts be purchased from? Are these the right ones?

I'm not very confident eyeing it with my wooden ruler. :)

The problem is, the back of them look like this:

That's not a lot of surface area for the glue/adhesive to work with.

Personally I would leave them off before I drilled holes. If the holes arent perfect you have crooked emblems on your nice car that will stick out like a sore thumb.
No chance I would ever get the holes in the right spot first time.
If your talking about the fenders the holes may just have filler over them and you can see them from the back. If they welded them your beat.

I actually want them behind the rear windows. I've always thought that looked really slick. I'm not going for factory-correct, but I do have a very specific idea in my head as to what I want the car to look like.

I'm going to be putting a Mach1 spoiler on as well, so I might as well get over my fear of drilling into her. :)

If I do decide to drill holes to mount them, I will likely use some cardboard as a template (push the emblems into some cardboard, trace around them and use that to measure and mark)

You need tube nuts or barrel clips. They make some with rubber on them to seal out the water. I got mine at an old Ford dealer. Pretty sure Auto Krafters has them.

I got the emblem nuts from eBay. Don't think they have rubber on them though. I was thinking of using some sort of all weather sealant.
