Rather than being negative. All I am going to say is that, like everything in life, you get what you pay for! Buy cheap $175 paint and clear and that is exactly what you will get. If you go that route, good luck. It will probably look good for a little while. But then because it is cheap and doesn't have all the UV screeners it will fail. Then you will have to spend much more than that to fix it. However, if it is a car you are looking to sell right away and don't care, be my guest.
What is the color omaha orange or tangerine twist? Looks damn good!How has it held up thru the years?
WOW no kidding? I'm glad to know that. I was looking at that paint myself and had about made up my mind not to risk it, but man if I can make it look half as good as you did I'll be thrilled. Is that their acrylic enamel or the urethane? What kind of gun did you use? Dude, this man's car looks perfect. I'd say it's held up extremely well. It looks better than the pics. I couldn't spot a flaw on that car and I stood around looking at it for a couple of hours
They seem to have quite a few positive customer referrals on their site (and, it appears, several here as well).
mine is the omaha orange. it took 1 1/2 gallons, then i clear coated it. i also put orange and white pearl in the clear coat. it has held up fine. i do put in in the garage during the week. it sits out on weekends. i only drive it on weekends.
did you used 1 1/2 gallons of paint that comes out to be 3 gallons mixed to spray or was it 1 1/2 gallons total to spray after mixed do you remember how many coats of paint and clear you put on there thanks
"You get what you pay for".....indeed. We should be careful condemning products like paint as cheap and low quality just because it's cheaper than the popular name brands. $175 a-gallon isn't "cheap"....and for that much I'd expect some decent quality, and evidently, this paint delivers. As for the really expensive name brand "quality" paints..... "you get what you pay for".....and sometimes, you pay way more than you have to to get "better" We always have to watch out for cheap quality and price bargain products (I've seen auto paint for $40-50 a-gallon....THAT'S a "you get what you pay for" situation)....but just because a gallon of paint costs half what a likely "hyped-price" name brand does, doesn't automatically mean it's low quality...again, especially with alot of the extreme over-pricing by name brands these days. I remember when we were renovating our house....I was at Home Depot, buying house paint. I bought one of the top quality name brands. I noticed there was this huge, fancy display for Ralph Lauren "designer" line of paint. I asked how much that paint cost, and the clerk said "Twice what you just paid for yours",....so, I asked about the quality, the clerk laughed, "About half the quality of yours" So, are all those people buying fancy Ralph Lauren "designer" paint really "Getting what they paid for"? Only if they're paying for just the name, not the quality they probably expect from it. .
Before you trash me or what I was saying please check your facts. That $175 isn't just for the paint. Click on the link. That was a gallon of base, a gallon of reducer, a gallon of clear and the hardner! I am never going to say that a guy should spend $1000. But I do have to question the quality of that much material for under $200. I was merely offering some advice based on my experiance. But I can see that there are guys here that have used it without problems. I am not going to argue any of your points, it's not worth it, some are very valid. I will agree that there are many times that the best product isn't the most expensive. With my job I look at paint failures everyday, and a lot of times it can be caused by using poor quality products.
