well i dont know about the cheap paint job using rustoleum, i used it in the bed of my truck and prepped it fairly well but rust still seems to come through the paint... i will definately point out he did a great job on straightening the hood though!

I might do this on my truck this summer since the paint is flaking up and fading through in many spots. It's just a trail truck and I'm not too worried about paint or body damage, so it doesn't have to be perfect. I'm just curious how it turns out. I read somewhere though that the paint is too thin to do stripes and it will leak under the masking tape, but I want to do a two-tone of red or black and silver. Does anyone have any idea if this could work?

I'm definitely considering this now, I want to put my pennies towards a V8 and new wheels and tires soon, so a $50 paintjob that turns out like that would be perfectly fine for me!

For Ford Guy------3m makes a vinyl striping tape that might work better than regular masking tape. Comes in various widths and has a much cleaner edge than masking tape so it might work better for your stripe. As with anything, I'd test an inconspicuos part first.

I'm thinking about trying the Rustoleum thing on my Mustang II.

Hey, it's a Mustang II, anything will be an improvement....it's win/win.

Maybe a Shelby paint scheme....white with blue "Le Mans" stripes, like the old GT 350's.....or just a white with black trim/accent scheme.

Would POR-15 work? Does it come in colors? Just thinking about those guys out there with lots of rust that their worried about. Anyone try that on the top side?

Thanks, I'll look into that. As for the Mustang II, I actually like them and I would paint it white with the 2 blue stripes. I think that'd look pretty good.

do the same technique with a better paint and good rust proofing. you can get good paint and primer for 100 a gallon with the activator and thinner. with the same amount of work, twice the rust protection and durability.... just my .02
