i have a 71 ford maverick with a inline 200 6...auto ....what bell housing do i need to get to make this happen?.....its driving me crazy....i know i need the 50 oz 157 toooth flex....but to find a bell housing that will bolt up to the 98 ford explorer block is killin me......anyone help me out?
I assume you're talking about a 5.0 block? Any bellhousing from 1966-up will bolt up. What tranny are you planning on running?
98 302 yeah....i have a c-4 tranny in the car.....but i had talk to a guy he is sending me the correct bell housing for it becuase the one on my tranny is rounded becuase i have the small inline 6 in there.....Now im trying to find the correct timing cover and harmonic balancer to run a old school belt system
well i can get a new balancer in dorman but i was wondering if u guys know if a stock balancer from a 302 will be ok with that 50 oz flex....also where can i get a crank pulley for v groove belts
No, you need a 50 oz balancer to match the crank and flexplate. Your best bet is to rob all this off a late 80's to 91 Crown Vic, Lincoln Towncar or Merc Marquis 5.0. You'll get the correct timing cover, balancer & waterpump to use V-belts, or use the Vic's accessories. The mid 80's Vic 5.0's still had the fuel pump boss cast into the timing cover, although the hole thru it wasn't always opened up for the fuel pump. You can easily forego the mech fuel pump anyway by using a MrGasket 12S electric pump.
