So I hear a lot of people giving their opinions of what the best thing to do with the color of a car is, and I know the responses to this will be just that. I guess that's what I want. I am debating painting my 70 mav a nice red, but part of me wonders whether the color the car originally was would be better, or maybe it doesnt even matter. Any ideas? How does that come into play when trying to sell the car later? Do serious maverick owners want their car as original as possible or just to look good? Any input and advice you all have would be great. Thanks!

Unless you are trying for a factory correct restoration, I'd say paint it the color you want. Not going to make much of a difference probably if you ever decide to sell it.:)

well like u said, you'll have to do what makes you happy.

but out of curiousity, what color was your car originally and what type of red are you looking at?

If it's a stallion or a sprint I'd paint it back to the orig.colors.But a grabber or just a plain maverick,me personally I'd paint it whatever color that appealed to me.My opinion is unless it's one of the first two i listed,it's really not going to matter for a resale, down the road.

Paint it whatever color you want. I can't see color choice having an enfluence on resale value.

Paint it whatever color you want. Color choice is not going to increase the value. The resale value, is what the person is willing to pay for it.

Going with original will tie it in with engine bay color if they were painted to match from factory--if a nice match is something you like to see when the hood and trunk are up. I've always thought it strange to raise a hood on a blue car and see a green engine bay (Just an example).

I've seen some real strange strange colors on factory cars come to life with an appropriate contrasting accent stripe or other treatment.

Like everyone is saying, go with what you like. It's not likely to affect someone wanting to buy it if or when that day comes.

Color changes are easier said then done. It actually takes a lot of work to do it right. Unless your doing 100% of the car, door jams, under the hood, under the trunk, engine compartment, and I would not change colors.

Add 3 layers of clear with wet look for an always shiny and wet look. Make the other cars cry and the owners wish... :1st:
