I am having difficulty with locating carpet for the trunk, but trunk mats are a dime a dozen. Would I be happy with one, after painting it black, of course? I have never seen one, or at least never paid attention to them. Can I glue it down to keep it from moving, and will it handle having a nitrous bottle and battery box bolted through it?
Scott; I found some of the carpet they cover speaker boxes with (get it at a stereo shop), and cut some thick corrugated cardboard to cover the trunk floor. I then used the 3M trim adhesive, and covered the cardboard. This way, I can take it out to clean or move around. If you put some backing...foam or rubber, it can cut down on the noise from the trunk. Good luck!
Why not just use one of these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/71-7...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories I have one, they fit nice.
I was thinking about doing that, or something similar. Can anyone post pics of what they ended up with, just to lead me along? Earl, did you make one that covers from wheel-well to wheel-well, or just one that drops into the recessed area? Dave, that items is one of the other options I have looked at. Picture?
Scott; I made 5 different pieces. One to cover the floor, one on each side to cover the tail lights, and one to go over each drop off. I made some for the wheel well arches, but didn't need them. I'll try to get some pics tomorrow.
That vinyl mat doesn't look too bad. It seems like if I glued it down, I could probably work out some of the bumps and make it hug the floor better. Any pics of the felt pad? I am right on the verge of going one or the other, depending on how that felt pad looks in a trunk.
Clean?? You put stuff in your trunk?? I know I don't... I think I'll have to go out and snap a pic, of mine..
I put in lawn chairs and a cooler. I hate cleaning little grass clippings out of the carpet/felt stuff.
OK guys, thanks for all the photos and suggestions. I have until Thursday (payday) to make up my mind...
