I keep seeing all these beautiful Mavericks out there...perfect trim, the nice chrome around the passenger and driver windows...How do you do this? Or better yet, where can you find trim in such good condition??
Still got to do the major bodywork, and paint. I have trim that will pass for now, but as far as the chrome around the windows, Ive buffed away the primer (old owner) and its just steel how would I get this chromed? Or at least acheive the chrome "look" ?
Might have come from the factory without the trim. Are you talking around the doors or quarter windows or both?
both, I believe I went through a layer of Ford blue (original paint) so I think you may be right...do I have any options in the matter?
Yep,if you went to bare metal, get some ETCHING primer on there! When everythings done and ready for paint, you can paint it,or add the chrome trim.I believe it's actually aluminum.Send me a pm if you need trim pcs.I have roughly 5 complete sets.
They are stainless steel pieces that are put on the stock metal frame. Kinda hard to get them off and reinstalled them without messing them up, but it can be done. I'd just replace the quarter windows with ones that already have the trim attached. They are easy to do. Then you only have to do the doors.
