I say get some extra metal welded to those to mounting "surfaces".. A piece of box tubing connecting both sides should suffice.. Switch 'em out for stock replacement shocks and either get oversized rear shackles(but only put 'em in the first hole, this will give you about 1 1/2 inches over stock) or get the springs re arched.
Go to your suspension genuis and have him put the leaf springs back on,and go to your local parts store and get the right (stock) shocks. You can always add leafs to get the rear up.
ok thanks guys for letting me know bout the air shocks before they did more damage. i thought it was to good to be true.
Ouch... brutal! He asked though... Have a look here for a cheap, fast, adjustable way to beef up your leaf springs.
Just make that four door as nice as you can .. Clean it , wax it , and do all you can with what you have to work with . Good luck Cometized
I have no problem with 70's technology.....it just the 70's accessories I have a problem with. Please....no more side pipes!!!
Back on topic, Just my humble opinion, I think the 4-doors really benefit from the "Pro-touring" look.....A nice, level stance to reasonably lowered all around, nice set of wheels, maybe upgrade to 16's or 17's....put some $$ into the suspension, even a stock suspension refreshing, with some beefy swaybars, subframe connectors to stiffen the chassis,.....without pics or a more detailed decription, I don't know what the car looks like (paint color, etc.) but for looks, maybe some tinted windows, a front spoiler, some tastefully done driving lights. It always pays to take your car's main use/purpose/enviroment into consideration when you build it.....if it's a daily driver/road car, you don't build it like a straight line drag car with massive traction mods and skinny wheels up front that can't take corners.....if it lives and drives on the streets, you build for superior handling for whatever the streets can throw at you, which sets it apart and better than the average stocker on the street, then add a little of yourself and your style into the look of the car to set it apart and make it your own even more.
Funny you should say that. My wife always complains that I mix camo shorts with tye-dyed t-shirts...which just about sums up my car's paintjob...
