Thanks much Jack. I bent many a stock car cage up and, I know that you know personally what I'm talking about when I say, this car will not be slammed into the Armco on the first lap.
Man you've come a long way scince this time last year!! Isn't it so cool to be thrashin, that's all that's on your mind, how do I do this or what next???....keep it goin!!!
I have to thrash to stay warm since I only have a kero space heater with 2 gallons of fuel left. And I'm thankful for all the help you gave me with my measurement questions on the Mustang II stuff plus any other "crazy" questions that I asked you in the last year or so Thanks for sharing.
With everything you are doing to that car, I would have to take it to the track. What about fabbing a crossbar for belts that would be removeable? Very slick lower bar for the back seat.
Well, I went out in the garage today and pushed the bottom of the back seat towards the rear of the car. It unlatched from it's 2 floor hooks and came up and out without hitting the bar. So it's now tacked in and it's a keeper.
My Never Ending Project Made some more progress on the Maverick today. Finished up most of the welding on the Full Tilt Street Rod front crossmember and got the right side coil spring hat tacked into place. I want to mock up the entire Mustang II suspension before I weld it in solid. I also removed the stock front crossmember that accepts the lower strut rods. That was a real bear to take out. Double plates and extra spot welds everywhere. I was concerned about removing this crossmember because of all the heat from the welding done in the front frame area plus removing the entire spring towers but, once I cut through the middle of it, the frame rails only sprung the width of the sawzall blade. I replaced the crossmember with a length of 1 1/2 inch tubing that runs through both frame rails. There is a second piece of tubing that goes with it but I’ll see if I can get to that tomorrow.
Wow! You'll have loads of room, for any engine, you'd ever want. Looks alot like a Heidts kit. Very Nice
Nice work Bob! Lot's a work and time in there Buddy! It won't be long that Clevor and the front susp. will be in and you can set it on the floor.Looks good!
this is pretty cool something like this can't be seen in europe, as there would be no way to get a build like this street legal over here. which makes it only more interesting
Thank you, Thomas. What would stop it from being street legal in Germany? The cage - the Mustang II front suspension? Does it have to be accepted as legal in each country in Europe seperately? I'm curious how it works over there
