Definatley a better price than what I paid. I probably should have shopped it around a bit more. Having Mustangs Unlimited just a couple towns over just made it too easy. Plus they had it in stock.

Have fun Ray!! The only thing I am not sure of yet is the fuel cap. The flat round area is only 4.5", and most all of the nice flip caps are 5". What are you running for a cap?

I was looking at the pics of the new panel and thinking about what I was going to do. My fiberglas panel didn't have the raised portion, only a big hole, probably about 8" diameter or better. I may do the same thing...eliminate the raised portion. I am using the 71 Mustang flip cap. Or I may just decide to go with a Shelby cap this time. I'll make that decision in a day or two. But I'm planning on digging in a soon as it arrives.

What ever you decide on the fuel filler please share with us. That is the one thing I am really still up in the air about. Well not really, I am still up in the air about a million different little things with this car!!

Just a little more trimming and fitting and I'll be welding that baby in. I think I decided against going with my flip open cap. I'm thinking about going with the custom cap the guy is selling on eBay. Has the Cobra engraved in it. He can pretty much build it to my specs too. I asked him what the diameter was and he asked me what I wanted it to be.
Here's a pic of one with just the snake, and one with Shelby over the snake. He can do it with Cobra or Maverick over the snake too. I just gotta figure out which way I want it...and quick. :)

Oh, don't worry...gonna use about 10 clamps. I think they'll be okay. May get them silver powder coated...gotta make them look nice. :)

Little update on my progress...would have been in primer already but my grandson has been playing too much baseball. Can't miss that! :)

Anyway, I wanna thank car-nut again for making us aware of this metal panel. I LOVE this panel!!! :Handshake
Took a little work but was really easier than the fiberglas one...probably just because I had already worked the fiberglas one in and had an idea what to do. I don't think I'll see any more stress cracks in it now!!! :yahoo:
You'll see that I had to take a little slice from my gas neck to make it flush with the panel again...no big deal.
My Cobra gas cap should be here in a day or two to finish it off.
