Were you asking for encouragement? It's been alot longer for me. I need the encouragement. Just get out there and do something. I will if you will
I finished welding up the cowl today!! :bananaman I didn't bother grinding down all the welds no one will ever see (the law of diminishing returns), but she's water tight! Everything got a good coating of POR15 (the bare spots got weld-thru primer), and seam sealer on the inside, now just to weld the cover back on, and start on the floors. This car might make the Roundup after all.......
Thanks, for the encouragement! I think I'll restore this car!! Maybe not stock, who wants a brown car, with white stripes, and a white halo top...
Dave; gonna try and make it this year. I need to get a reservation made, but until I get some things straight with the family, can't do that. Here's hoping......
Nice job on the cowl, Dave. Every time I see someone here wrestling with these cowl issues, it makes me wonder what the factory could have done different back in the day. It looks like this car will be around for a good long while now.
they could at least have done *something*, like using galvanised metal or at least painting it. using bare metal surely didn't help oh, and nice job, dave
I think it was more of a poor design, than anything. Right around the back of the hats, even the paint pools up. They used seam sealer, and a lot of it. From what I've been told, St.Thomas cars were dipped in e-coat, so you'd think that would have helped, I don't know about Kansas car (this is one of those) Either way, I gave it a second coat of POR 15 last night
Pretty much removed everything off the front end, except the suspension...Need to finish up a few welds on the cowl cover, then I can send it out for blasting.
