I have stock suspension and need a front sump T sump oil pan. Will an aftermarket one clear everything? I have manual steering if that matters. I wanted to go with Canton, Milodon or Hamburger brand.
I have a Mildon on mine, stock suspension and manual steering. It's a drag only car, but have had no problems.
I was running a milodon on mine, but I'm going to something better when I put it back in the car this time. The milodon has no trap doors, no baffles, no side kickouts or scrapers, it's just a plain empty pan with a few extra quarts in the sump. If you're under 6000 rpm's then it would probably be just fine. I can't run the milodon windage tray because of my main girdle. Canton makes some nice pans with a few different options for mavericks. I'm going to try either a canton or billet fabrication this time.
Maverick8003, Unless Canton has some new products, the only pans they have with front sump will not fit the chassis, as the side kickouts are square and will hit the front A arm brackets. Maybe if you use a rear sump (which I can't) or maybe a Fox body will work. My Mildon does have a scraper and trap door much like the old Z28 Camaro's used to have, and I have do have a CTS girdle also. This is an old pan and maybe they don't make them anymore. It is a 7 quart pan and I run with 6qts and regularly spin the motor over 7grand with no issues. I had a Canton pan on my 97 Mustang Cobra and just with the pan and no other modifications it did pick up 11RWHP.............they make a great product. As for Billet Fab, Jeff makes some really top notch pans, and his "ball bearing" baffles are terrific.........................but paying $1grand for an aluminum oil pan is a little rich for me. IMHO
Will I be able to get these into the car with the pan assembled on the engine? my concern is that with the larger sump pans they will not clear the suspension when I drop the engine in.
yea canton is listed as compatible with mavericks but looking at the pics it appears that it won't clear. the moroso and milodon seem to fit for most people. I'll look into it.
The moroso seems to sit pretty low. I don't want it to be lower than my exhaust. The price isn't too bad.
