my never ending quest for a pair of mirrors may have come to an end. I was looking at my bro's replica shleby and the mirror looked really sweet. So I ordered a pair:

The length for these is different. How do I go about mounting them to the doors?

it's neat, they can go on either side because the actual head turns so that's a plus.

I like! Can you post part number and where you got them?

As for mounting...i think you need to find a set of those anchors so they dont rip out of the doorskin.

It looks like they might screw on from inside the door. I cannot see any surface holes for screws and rivet nuts...

if so, you should definitely use washers (maybe even nylon ones to conform to the inner skin) to spread that load out.

sweet! now I KNOW they're gonna look good :)
I guess there is a rivet that's supposed to go into the door skin but I think I need a rivet gun for that. I might have to get creative

In Derek's pictures, you can see the screw coming in from outside.

So, if that is the case, yes, there are some inserts you need to find and put in the door skin. Kinda like mollies, but not exactly.

It looks like you need some bases, like in Derrick's photos. Do they come with the mirrors? Maybe the sales photo does not show everything.

HEY!!! Those are what I was talking about!!! Rivnuts...I gotta remember that. I need them on mine now, since my one mirror is off of a who-knows-what.

I always assumed it was from some mercury, because it looks a lot like the maverick/ford mirror, but the base is longer and more elongated and rocket-looking than the mav's. So I mounted one screw into the rivet, and the other into the sheet metal, and it wants to wobble a little.

Alright, didn't turn out bad at all. Got to Bryant's shop (as all things start) and attempted this riv nut tool I bought for like $55 locally. I got some riv nuts and the proper screws. Drilled some holes in 18 gauge sheetmetal he had laying around and attempted to install this, worked out well. Then on to the car.

Removed the old mirror. Great, no gasket. And there is a hole under there that I didn't know about.

Market where I wanted to have the mirror go.

Here are my weapons. There was a drill also of course that's just a tad bigger than the base of the riv nut but not as big as the head. The tool was $55, the nuts were $15 and the screws I think $5.

Pardon the filth on the car, it rained here and I didn't have time to get it washed. The holes were drilled out after I punched the holes with a tap to make sure the drill doesn't wander.

I put the rib nut onto the head of the tool and just pushed in into the hole, pressed the handle (we figured out how to adjust the tool when we did our practice holes, real simple)

Then I installed the gasket, then this little metal tab and screwed it down, VERY solid base. LOVE riv nuts.

    On goes the base.

    Another gasket
    [IMG]

Then the head that houses the mirror.

There is a nut that you tighten down with a 5/16th wrench I believe.

Now, I don't think it looks as good as I thought it would but not bad. There is a base you can get for these but of course that means new riv nuts, but that's alright. Main problems after doing the passenger side also is that I can't turn the mirror enough to be able to see the passenger side so I'll play around with it some more.
