I was at Harolds the other day and mentioned I would like to build an "air deflector" for my car. I have seen these on all the late model cars. He told me to go look in the dumpster as Buddy had thrown one away that might work. sure enough ...it was just what i was looking for... after a little trimming and a few bolts/rivets it was mounted... I did a drive test first to see if there would be any difference... outside temp. 98 degrees...took an 18 mile run down the interstate. installed the "air feflector... outside temp. 105 degrees...took same 18 mile run. ...the outside temp. was 7 degrees higher, the car ran 7 degrees cooler... I will retest after i install my new Champion 3 row radiator... ......
I will check with Harold tomorrow...I think he said a van. I would think about any car/truck/van would work... ......
That is cool! Literally! Looks like a chin spoiler, but actually mounted behind the valence to direct air up into the engine bay. I notice it is mounted BEHIND the radiator. Does it keep cooler by cooling the engine bay or by creating a vacuum behind the radiator causing more air to go THROUGH the radiator? Did you notice any issues with your hood raising on the highway?
my intent was to direct air into the engine bay to remove heated air...no lifting of the hood at 75 MPH. I really don't know why it ran cooler or if i could move it forward/back and it work better. I was happy with the temp change for the small amount of work to make/install it. ......
What about ground clearance? I drove a 2000 Impala for a while as a daily driver, and i tore that thing apart in no time that one actually looks exactly like the one the impalas use, but im guessing they all look the same.
Looking at your pics and I like them ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice shop,engine,brakes everything. The cooler looks nice but the thing that caught my eye was the rack and pinion. Did you go to a Must II front end?
