I have my connections sorted out an my engine and trans and drive shaft mocked in place. I am ready to sort out the ecm placement. I am using the stock ford computer, so to myfellow efi dudes. Ideas on where to put the ecm. Note... I am not afraid of the wiring part so no worries there. Thanks fellas
I wana say don't put it where it could get wet so under the dash is out ..j/k I havn't seen where guys put them in our cars, this is a good question. I am thinking to look at the different places it might fit and think about pros and cons. Do you have the AC box still in the car? Not much space if so.. hmmm...
I would definately put it in the car, look for room under the dash, kick panel area..... I was even thinking about possibly under the pass seat, but I am a long way from sorting that problem out on mine..... Too funny!!!!!
ECM location I put my sub-amp under the pass seat. It's 2.25" h * 7.625"w * 9.0" long. I am using regular h-back buckets and brackets. If I go to newer Stang seats and LDO brackets I may have to move it to another spot. If ur ecm is not larger than my amp u shud be able to put it there.
I've got a lot of other stuff mounted under the dash so I ended up soldering in extension wires for every connection going to the EEC, ran the harness under the carpet and up into the space inside the driver's rear quarter. I have some pieces of foam in there to keep it from rattling and moving around. I haven't had any problems with it there.
Here's some wires for ya... That was my extension harness before I straightened it all out and wrapped it...
Awesome, I would like to keep the extensions to a minimum, althought I have considered the pros and cons. I am going to ponder the drive kick panel idea. My sub amp is going in the trunk so I don't want to put it there and have driveability issues. Thanks for all the great ideas. The under the dash thing is very funny, lol. I will post again, I hope that it will help someone else.
Jojo I have one ? what ECM harness ?????? In my car I used a 88 mustang harness and ECM . I have it in two differant places with out a/c I made a tray and mounted it above the heater box on the passanger side behind the dash. With a/c I ran ECM cables between the fire wall and heat a/c box and velcro ECM to the bottom of the heat a/c box. Jay
