I bought this cowl from harwood.

I am going to have a body shop bond it on but am worried about the next step I should take. I am planning on picking it up and then molding it down with fiberglass. Is there any special fiberglass I should use? I was then going to sand the fiberglass down and cover with body filler. What do you think about those steps? Should I use hood Pins when done? Thank...

Have them glue it on with 3M (or Fusor) body adhesive, it's a much stronger bond than anything else you'll find. After that, any type of body filler can be used to feather it out...

Not with the body adhesive. Of course, surface prep always plays a big part in the final picture, plus I'd be sure that the scoop fits with minimal gaps (1/8" or less).

So your saying as long as the edges are completely bonded and there is no gap I should be fine? Not really sure what you mean by minimal gaps. Im assuming you mean the bonded edges. Is there a high quality fiberglass i should use?

I can't speak for where you live. But up here in the North East, that will crack everytime!! The problem is that the metal hood and the fiberglass scoop expand and contract at different rates. Eventually you will see it crack. But again, up here we have severe weather changes.

    Yes.

Minimal gaps means just that, the closer the scoop fits to the hood (and the less of a bind it's in to get there), the lower the chance of any cracking, gap being adjusted before gluing it down. Any more than 1/8" and you'll be putting the scoop in a bind when it's fastened permanently. Whoever installs it will need to screw or rivet it down while the adhesive sets, then those fasteners are ground off and the seam is feathered out with filler. If done correctly, it will not crack.
