I'm not going to do a total rewire. Kinda like improving whats there. I'm leaving most of the original wiring, but adding additional circuits and separating a few of the original circuits. Also I'm going to add some modern systems, like RAP, automatic DRL, power windows/locks and other fun stuff.

I mean, how can I be an electrical engineering major and not have a 'modernized' electrical system? :bouncy:

Nice fuse panel setup. Where u get the one's on the right w/ clear covers? Dp they have bus feed on one side?
I recently put one in to keep frm adding anything extra to the 38yr old fac box. I left all stock wiring on orig box and added stero, aftermarket gauges and anything else I may add.
I have it mounted temp under pass side of package tray. I plan on perm mount once I do rehab on heater core and evap. Where do u plan to mount it?

I got the fuse strips on eBay, but they can be found here:
    http://www.delcity.net/store/Fuse-Blocks/p_176.a_1
They do not have a bus. I chose to handle the power feed myself.

I am going to mount it where the original fuse panel was, using a bulkhead connector for the wires heading into the engine area.

    Holy crap that's a nice shed!! :thumbs2:

Holy crap that's a nice car!! :dancing:

    Restoration?... car looks great already.

I just decided to do a hood tach with the big Comet GT hood scoop on mine as well; so if you can please give some of us a sneak peek at how yours is hooked up that would be awesome.

Does the shed have a bar/fridge/stereo as well?.... <quivers with heebie jeebies> :party5:

Thanks for the compliments! The shed does NOT have a bar. It does have a fridge and a stereo. Dad decided against a bathroom, otherwise he would have no reason to go back into the house.

The tach is a Dixico hood tach. Has 4 wires, 12V+, 12V-, illumination and coil. Not sure of the wire colors, but I can check next time I am over there. If you search 'hood tach' on ebay, you might see one for sale.

Question. The electrical upgrades are great. I plan on doing the same to my GT when the time comes. But why stick the fuse panel back in the original location? Its such a pain to get to.

I'm taking electrical engineering, too, and am interested in doing some upgrades. Very interesting progress, thank you.

I going to move it a little, but it will still be tucked under the dash. Theoretically, you shouldn't be working on the fuse panel everyday. Even though its a little inaccessible, I don't want it out in the open. If you are changing fuses, adding circuits, then maybe move it out. But thats the point of my re-wire. Also being sure to add some wiggle room for expansion even if I do need to go back to it later.

i was thinking mainly for upgrades because your right, its not something you should have to access too often. I plan on putting mine under the hood. Just need a water proof box but that should not be a problem.

Had fun today on Veteran's Day. Got to start on more sheet metal repair. Gotta remove the ugly stuff first.

Its slow and sporadic, but when I do get time to work on it I always have fun.

And to all my fellow veterans, Happy Veterans Day!! :tiphat:
