Due to the overheating problem and one very mean-spirited brick mailbox, it's been over a month since we've had the Maverick on the road. But reading through an old carpeting thread, I saw Blugene had his car in-the-works for something like 3 years (???).

    This got me wondering...

Who on the forum has the longest term project car?

And what has been your biggest challenge to getting it back on the road?

I vote for me. I bought it in 2001, and have spent a lot more time not working on it than I have working on it. Work on the 77, home and yard projects, family... you name it. It's getting close though, and has been on the road for a couple years. But I think there are projects that have been on the back burner longer than my Grabber. Dennis, how long ago did you start that convertible? :)

Ok, i'm officialy embarresed . lol
Hard for me to answer this one cause I been working on a Comet since I owned one. My mom and dad bought the one (73) they gave me back in 74. They gave me the keys around 82. By that time I had replaced the fly wheel and timing chain along with various other things. Once they gave me the keys it was on lol. Wide tires, glass packs etc..

It has been on the rack for almost a month know getting things done but this time it is not on the back burner for when it comes off the rack it will be finished except for minor work on the body.Long story short almost 3 years

You know...:hmmm: Now that I think about it. I have owned my blue one since 86' and have been modifying/tweaking it ever since the day I got it soo, in that vein, I guess I have been working on an ever changing project for the last 24 yrs. Its just that this time I am doing it for the last time with this one...When I turn the last screw...Its done...(yeah right :rofl2:)

    You said it. I noticed your sprint is a 72 with a 351.MY maverick is a 72 with a 418 which is a 351 block stoked to a 418 small world.

Yep you said it!! 507hp on pump gas with the 2 stages that i am may use it will be a around 950hp.Plan on a 250 and a 300 shot of the secret juice.I may not even juice it depends on how it hooks without it and how it runs the 1/4 mile and the 1/8 mile.
