600 bucks is too much for it. Its gotta be rotten underneath from the looks of the rest of it. Its a parts car man...If its a real grabber (Vin has 93 in the 3rd and 4th positions) its still a long long way from being a simple re-do. That car is going to need ALOT of rust repair/sheetmetal replacement. Its doable but...Its the hard way to do a project.Good luck man!!!

Sorry if this is a stupid question I'm new to this. Could I replace the rusted parts if this car with those of a comet? I know a guy selling a rust free comet body at a good price.

Did anyone else notice the "Union Sheet Metal Worker" bumper sticker ...:bouncy::clap::rofl2: Nice bondo work there....

For the rust you see, there is typically a lot more that you can't see.

If you can get a rust-free Comet, I would start with that, and get this Grabber cheap as a parts car. You could swap the rear spoiler onto the Comet, and use other needed stuff. Selling stuff you don't need off this Mav would help finance your Comet too.

Restoring that car just because it is a Grabber is not put on a pedestal like some other models. As a group, we tend to mod these cars. They have nice styling, and because of the light weight and short wheelbase, take modification well ... easily built, very fun to drive. They beg for more power, brakes, and handling than stock, so ... make them "better"...

Someone with some body skill will want that Grabber hood. It may take cutting a good front off of a stock hood and splicing to fix it ... lot of work which = $$$$s if you don't have the skills.

edit ... I am not totally convinced that is a Grabber ... looks like standard door upholstery, and shouldn't it have sports lamps? Can't see them if they are there. Does look like a good dash pad if it isn't a cap.

If you are set on getting this car I do have a tail panel I cut off a 72 that is in good shape. Just getting it to you would be a little spendy. I also have a good trunk floor and a good set of rocker panels.

That car could be $200....and I would still say it's a parts car. Just because one can buy it "cheap"...doesn't make it a great deal for a restoration. I have seen totally rust free cars on here for $2000. The car you are looking at needs at least $5000 in body work done to it to even bring it close to the $2000 car, and that is just the rust I see.

Friends don't let friends fix rust. :D

Let me take a minute to address some of the 'expert' advice about my car.
    1. Pick up the phone and call me. I posted my phone number in the ad so you can call and arrange a time to come and see the car in person.
    2. The only rust-through is on the left rear quarter, hood lip, and under the battery. NO rust in the floors, frame rails, or trunk floor.
    3. Yes, replacement quarter panels are available from any Maverick parts vendor.
    4. I'm not really sure what you mean about the gas tank. That's a new gas tank, installed properly. I have not installed the rear valence, so maybe it looks like it hangs low?
    5. $300 parts car? Really? I've seen the grabber hood alone sell for $500.
    6. Yes, it's a real grabber, 93 in the VIN.
    7. I got it from a union worker that did HVAC duct work.
    8. I had the fox body Mustang posted on here for a couple of months. No one was interested.
    9. If you have any other questions/concerns call me at 770-820-5230

The comet is just a body, I wouldn't have time to put everything in it.

Then you probably don't have the time for an extensive restoration of the other car.

Was your ad on here? I will go look for it. If not, I suggest you post up an ad for it.

As far as the gas tank, it does not have the correct tapered tank found on a 1971-1974 Maverick. what you have installed is the 1975-1977 gas tank. This is a popular modifaction as the early tanks are had to find.

The gas tank was installed by the previous owner. He used the 75-77 tank because it is the only one available new.

You can drive this car while you restore it.
