I have to agree with Craig.(It is killing me to do so:D j/k)

That car IMHO is not worth more than $500.00 or less.
Time you ship it or drive it home for any amount of distance it is now a in the hole project. The Grabber hood is rusted out, it can be saved but there are fiber glass and Carbon fiber alternatives that have brought those hoods down price wise. The hood is worth $250.00 or less tops as is condition. The rear spolier is 250.00 or less. The economy is righting itself and tangible items are coming down in price and money value is going up....in other words the muscle car craze( which had a limited effect on mavs/comets in the first place) is coming to a normal trend once again.

Factor in the cost of labor to dismantle the car to part it out it is no longer worth a 1k. Just my honest opinion. No hard feelings to anybody and nor am I attacking anybody. In the end the market will determine if it sells and for what price. That means none of our opinions owner and experts:idea:;):D alike mean a damn thing!!!!:Handshake

There are far better deals in GA, keep an eye on craigslist. Check out the yellow '70 in Blue Ridge for 2,000. I've seen it in person and it's a great, straight, rust free car.

A 4 lug, 6 cylinder Grabber with a busted up spoiler, rusted out hood and body... As someone who currently owns 14 Mavericks including two Grabbers, I wouldn't consider giving more then $500 for that car..

Just so everyone here knows, my parents were going to help me buy a maverick for my first car but for some reason they decide they didn't want me driving a ford maverick. They decide that I was going to have to drive what ever they got for me. So I said fine I'll buy and fix up a maverick myself with my own money. So now I have $700 and no job cause school starts Monday. I wasn't looking at the car because it's a hell of a steal I was looking at it because it's what I can afford. I know 700 won't get me very much but Its all I've got. If you guys have any other suggestions let me know

    You asked:

    Suggestions:

    1. Listen to your parents, they know best.

    2. My opinion, there are WAY better cars out there than a Maverick for a first car for a teenager.

    3. If you don't have a job, no since in buying a car. Get a job first.

    4. Just because it is a "hell of a steal" does not mean it is a Hell of a DEAL. Just because it is what you can afford doesn't make it a deal either. Get a job, and start saving up money. The more money you save, the more education about cars you get, the better car you will be able to buy.

i wouldn't be driving the maverick. my parents are going to buy something for me to drive. if i bought a maverick i wouldn't be driving it around just working on it.

You got a garage to store it in and work on it?

I guess, as long as you can hold an interest in seeing the car finished, it would be a hell of a learning experience for you :)

Which is very hard for most kids, even in my day...We had some awesome cars that got sent to the junk yard, either because it was more than we could handle, or more than we could afford...
You should buy the best car you can afford, it'll pay for itself in the long run.
