Here is something else to chew on... I need to decide what kind of hood stripe to do. I have kind of decided on 2 different looks.

Here is where I am now...

Here are some pics of options...

    The Mustang Boss (Blackout Look)

    Or... The raised cowl look.

I've always loved this stripe on Charlie Pings car.

This is the ideal look... If only I could find a way to get one of those Cowl hoods from MaverickMan. This is the stripe I would be doing. Its basically the Ping stripe but over an actual cowl.

    Thoughts?

Thanks Gene. I wish I could leave it alone but... Remember this hole? (I keep forgetting its on my list of things to be done by the deadline.) It needs to be patched and painted. Color matching (custom color) will be expensive and since it is a metallic, is not something I want to try to shoot myself thus making it even more expensive. Hotrod Black on the other hand is something more manageable in my garage with cheap equipment.

Im going to have someone else weld them in but yes that is the plan. Im not skilled enough myself. My welder laughed at me when I handed him some parts to finish weld and showed him that I tack'd them together for him.

Since you want hood stripes, I would go with this:

I like the Mustang/Colt blackout look. Something smaller, like Charlie's, looks great in combo with side strips. Without stripes, I think it looks better big and bold.

Good point. Im 99% sure its the Charlie stripe Im going to go with. I may even paint the side stripe on at the same time. Im thinking of using a Gunmetal, Carbon, or Graphite color to outline it.

OK. its in. I had to hire some muscle to do the job. It took 4 large guys and 2 5' pry bars to get the clutches to slip. Then it finally went into place.

I'm taking a 3-day weekend this week to get this installed and run the brake and e-brake lines. Before I can put it back on the ground though, I need to measure for a drive shaft. Anyone have any recommendations on an aluminum piece. If Im going to have to alter a drive shaft, I might as well start with something lighter. It will need to be capable of handling 500 ft/lb of torque so no Aerostar shafts.

I vacuum tested my A/C system this week and am pleased to announce that after 1.5 hours of -30hg there are no leaks.

I still need to work out my wiring for the dash/inst clusters and mod my center console to accept my new e-brake lever.

http://www.iedls.com/ all the fastest cars at my local track get theirs from here. They also make driveshafts for pro mod cars :)

I looked at their site and they appear to be a little pricey for me. Im already over budget for this year so I'll likely just shorten this one. I just bought a 95 t5 with g-force internals so I'll be shortening the driveshaft again when I get around to putting it in early next year. Maybe I'll get lucky and find a good deal on a FMS mustang driveshaft by then.

A vacuum isn't always the best way to leak test....nitrogen and positive pressure is the best way.

I have heard that too (about pressure vs vacuum). Curious, why nitrogen?

Nitrogen, is dry and inert. It won't change pressure with temperature.
I learned very early when doing refrigeration, pulling a vacuum is not a good way to test for any leaks.

I had heard that pulling a vacuum is not a replacement for positive pressure testing but it was something I could do myself in my garage. It makes me feel just THAT much more secure in my system to go ahead and cover all the hoses back up and install the dash. If there is a leak, it'll be a heck of a pain chasing it down with all the hose connections I have. I'll be taking it to an a/c shop to have it charged the first time. I'll let them do the official tests.
