Our Mav has two ancient AAA stickers on the rear bumper. Is there a good solvent that will aid in removing them without removing the chrome. I would rather leave them on the bumper than take a chance of damaging the chrome.
I got one too on my rear bumper, old metalized AAA sticker. I just left it there, Chrome is probably shinier (more shine?) under the sticker and would still see the outline anyways. Besides its kind of nostalgic.
Not sure about the metallized AAA stickers - but regular old bumper stickers fall apart pretty good with a heat gun. Then just clean off the left over adhesive residue with a spray on adhesive solvert made for just such purposes. Goo Gone and Gum Solvent are 2 brand names that I have used and recommend. This works on engine compartment decals and lables too. Just make sure not to bubble the paint with the heat gun.
SOS pad after the heat gun. Then use a polish on the bumpers. Or if your poor use aluminum foil and coke like mentioned above.
Coca Cola and aluminum foil - Wow - never would have thought of that in a million years. Dou you just pour the coke on the bumper and scrub? I assume you wait a moment or two to let the acidity work into the decal. We got some chrome polish to help with the minor rust dots on the bumper, so that part is covered. I may try both the cola route and polish route (have two AAA stickers) and post a comparision.
i pour the coke on then scrub and as i scrub i pour alittle more coke on,hey dont knock it it's got crome shinier than any polish i've ever seen.
Not knocking it in anyway. I have found Coca Cola to be a very effective cleaner. Works great on battery terminals.
They tested it out on mythbusters. It works but it fails in comparison to a real polish like mothers, and it doesnt provide protection. Plus why throw a way a can of coke
sounds like a maverick test being developed. If I get my homework done in time to do it, I will do half the bumper with coke and aluminum foil and half with chrome polish. Any other polishing options you want me to try?
I hear CLR works for everything.I like to use diet CLR, it works the best, followed up by a good scrub with a handfull of gravel.
