Where can you buy the putty and rust bullet in GA, I checked the summit website but they only have the paints. Is there anywhere in GA to buy the stuff or do I have to order it? Also good news: got my liscence(finally) on Tuesday but they wouldn't let me test in the mav cause the horn doesn't work. So I had to take it in my moms suburban, I hate parking that bus!!
If you manage to save the rubber seal when you remove it you might try soaking and cleaning the rubber in a solution of GOOP /GOJo hand cleaner / or something similar and water. Soak, work it in, and soak again until clean and soft. I actually saved the rubber around my doors and trunk by doing this trick. This rubber stretched back to fit, have become soft again and all doors etc fit nice and tight now when you close them. Just a thought to save some $ as a set of rubber for all is somewhere around $200 if I recall. Good luck!
my dad wants to get the gaskets and rubber replaced this weekend so i think im gonna go with this: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MOR-35560/ its pretty much the same stuff and i wont have to pay shipping
It is best to call Summit and see if it is in stock at the store or they will have to order it from another store...this might save you a trip for nothing.
Im still undecided about the rust around the rear windshield I couldn't get to summit last weekend and I still don't have the gaskets. It's especially hard cause I drive my mav every day. But as for the rust under the window trim I have started sanding it down to bare metal and the sticking bondo on it, I know it's not the best way to fix the rust but it will have to do till next summer.
If you can't/ don't want to fix it now, at least clean off the rust the best you can and get a rattle can of rust inhibitor and spray it(rustoleum makes some, I'm sure there's other brands). Any parts store carries them. This will at least slow down the rust until you decide what to do with it.
