Actually to tell the truth. I love the snow and cold and no Colorado don't hold a stick to a good ole northerly winter. :bananaman As for the camaro, good for you thats one more gone.
Some More Cowl Progress Well, the new Mustang cowl rings are in, all holes have been plated in and the entire interior of the cowl is covered in 2 coats of nice shiney black Rust Bullet. Since I am going with a tilt front end, the plan has always been to have the cowl and firewall be as smooth as possible for visual effect. So I made up sheet metal plates and welded them in to cover those big ugly indents in both sides of the cowl. The wells for the windshield washers were covered in some time ago plus all other holes filled in. Next I'll need to get my cowl grill filler plates welded in. Then it's time for some more filler and a lot of sanding before I weld the outer cowl back in where it belongs. Then move on to something else
Maybe somone can open their hood and check but those indents may be there for hood hinge operation. With my cowl all plated, the back edge of my hood fits right up against the front edge of the cowl like it should. Both my steel fenders, hood, front valence, stone guard, grill and bumper will all be fastened together, using an internal grid to make a 1 piece tilt nose. The stock hinges will no longer be used.
Looks good, I like it..... I don't think you'll have any clearance problems with a tilt front end, I believe those pockets allow cleanance for the hood hinges when you shut the hood and not the actual hood itself.....
Ya, but when Craig mentioned the pockets, I still ran back out to the garage to make sure the hood cleared again LOL!
WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Actually, the opinions of fellow forum members are important, to the degree, that I find myself running out and double checking before I would say something like "I got it covered" - it's worth the extra look
71 trans tunnel into a 70 Here is why I need the tunnel piece. Going with the Muastang II cradle and using the Cleveland Fox body oil pan notched out for the cradle, the engine and trans mounts about an inch and a half further forward than before. The shifter went forward along with the engine and transmission. So the already big tunnel hole needed for the Hurst V-Gate shifter got a lot bigger - too big for the boot now. So I need another front tunnel piece from the front seam to where it blends into the driveshaft tunnel. You can see from the one photo that I would like to go back past the area where I got nuts with a ball peen hammer a whole bunch of years ago. Plus I had some idiotic plate mounted through the tunnel for support in front of the shifter. A new front tunnel piece would clean all of this up. A larger 71 tunnel front piece would actually work much better than the small 70 tunnel. My question is will the larger 71 front tunnel piece blend into the 70 rear driveshaft tunnel. Is the 70 & later rear tunnel piece the same? Thanks all, Bob
Looks familiar, did almost the same thing to mine in order to use a straight rod Super Shifter III. I have considered doing the same thing.
Let me know how you want me to measure my 73. It's gutted, so it should be easy, as long as I don't have to kneel down....
