I'm partial to this one, inspired by 71 torino gt cobrajet with my trunk blacked out like a 70 boss mustang. strange combo but I like it.
thanks Ray ! I need rear window louvers don't ya think ? I am in process of rectifying that. nuff said for now...
wow, post #16, thats awesome. any more pictures of that beauty a little more zoomed out? its kinda like the 70 grabber stripes, but bigger and sharper. i love it
Dfrtzman if you don't stop putting your pic's on here it's going to cost me a whole lot of money. Your hood is BEAUTIFUL. Let me put it this way, when the money tree in the back gets a little bigger I KNOW what I'm doing. I know it's a drive but I hope to see you in Dearborn next year !!
sorry man, i tried to stop before you thought I hijacked... listen up the cost was cheap used 1 qt of SEM trim black, SEM reducer couple rolls of fine line tape and I did hood, cowl, faux grabber side stripes, trunk blacked out and the front grill as well as the rear panel. Total cost of $70 dollars. My advise is this take your time, pick a theme if you will and keep everything proportionate while working with body lines on our beautiful cars. Probably took me 3 good spray and mask sessions to do. Take your time you'll do fine. You only have to please yourself if you like it just do it.
I like this a LOT for a Comet. Of course it would look sill with Comet GT on the side of a Maverick. hahaha
well, you could modify it, perhaps let it say Maverick Grabber or just Grabber.. at least, I'd go for those stripes on a maverick, plain, even whitout the letters.
very nicely done! I had a 1970 Fairlane 500 Station Wagon(same frontend as Torino) which I did nearly the same thing on. What I did was to install a GT hood with the built in scoop and ran the body stripe to the center of the hood at each edge of the scoops opening. In other words, the center body color stripe(white in my case) was exactly the width of the internal opening for the scoop. This allowed the proportions to better match the car and to allow the scoops opening to pop out a bit better from a distance(more contrast between the body color and the black opening of the scoop). I also wedged the outside lines of the black stripe to better match the Torino's distinctive ridged body lines on top of the fenders. Which meant that the black color flowed out from the hood to nearly meet up with the outside edges of the front widshield. Gave it a very nice wedge shape from the front. Probably be abit tougher to do on the smooth topped fenders of these cars since you have no distinct fender ridge to follow.. but I think it's still plausible if the proportions were kept in line to make it work. Anyways.. not a criticism at all. Just throwing ideas out for anyone who cares enough to read. I'll try to dig up some pic's of my station wagon to better illustrate what I mean here. I'll update the thread when I find them. I'm kinda green here so I'll ask. Am I allowed to post Torino front end pic's for the sake of paint design idea's?
I am going to follow the hood bulge in front not going all the way to the end then do the back ending with the spoiler kinda like the way the factory did early camaro's I don't think a Maverick looks right with full stripes they look better to me when you follow the lines of the car
